Matt is a Missouri native with over ten years of experience in the medical marijuana, nutraceutical, and industrial hemp industries in Colorado and Canada. Raised in Blue Springs, MO and a graduate of Blue Springs South H.S., Matt attended Boston University’s School of Management where he received a Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Finance, magna cum laude – including a semester interning for Citibank Asset Management in London.
After becoming a Colorado medical marijuana patient in 2007 to treat his Crohn’s Disease, Matt built on his experiences consulting at Accenture to launch Colorado’s first medical marijuana business consultancy in mid-2009. By the end of 2009, Matt had assisted over 150 medical marijuana business clients in Colorado incorporate, apply for tax licenses, secure zoning approvals, and follow state medical marijuana laws. Matt consulted with approximately 25 percent of the dispensaries in the state at that time. This experience led him to co-found Coloradans for Medical Marijuana Regulation (CMMR) where he worked closely with the Colorado legislature and the Colorado Department of Revenue’s Chief Enforcement Officer to create the nation’s first comprehensive business regulations for medical marijuana dispensaries, cultivation facilities, and infused-products manufacturers.
In 2012, Matt co-founded My420Tours, the first tourism company to launch after Colorado legalized recreational marijuana. Matt was interviewed by over 250 media outlets, across TV, radio, newspaper, and internet news outlets in 20+ countries.
Since that time, Matt has co-founded and/or worked with clients in Colorado, Canada, and Barbados to build licensed research and production facilities, to develop new technologies for the industrial-scale harvest, extraction, and product formulation of cannabinoids, and to prototype formulations of cannabinoid therapeutics.
He co-founded SproutHouse Supply LLC in Independence, Missouri in 2019 with Brianne and Mike. Matt is also Chief Executive Officer at Red Tractor Cannabis, a Missouri medical marijuana company.
Matt lives in Lawrence, Kansas with his wife, their Yorkie, Snickers, and their grumpy cat, Donatello. They are in the process of relocating to Missouri.
